My Newest Obession

If you know me, you know that I am a true lipstick lover. I love mattes, satins, sheer… And I always find myself leaning towards the natural-nudey-pinkish colors.

My newest obsession is the NARS Audacious Lipsticks. I've picked up the color Anita, which is described as an antique rose color. It pulls a bit more darker on my lips, but I absolutely love it. The claims are true, one swipe and you have an even coverage. I don't find this lipstick to be drying, and it latest for about four hours on my lips. I can't wait to pick up some more!

Have you tried any new lipsticks lately?

A Little Haul

I am obsessed with cosmetics. I blame YouTube for my addiction. I simply cannot visit my local mall without stopping by Sephora. And don't even get me started on the new stand alone MAC store. I could spend hours in those wonderful places, just browsing and swatching. The colors, the brushes, the smells… It all just sucks me in.

Recently I stopped by the two aforementioned stores, and picked up a few new pieces that caught my eye.

I feel like Hourglass is a newly popular brand that is burning holes in, well, my pockets. I was a big fan of their Ambient Lighting Pallette that was released a few months ago, so you could imagine how ecstatic I was to hear that they'd be coming out with a blush version.

At $58 USD, you get three beautiful blushes that give you not only a flush to the cheeks, but a glow that will have people wondering.

Continuing with the Hourglass obsession, I had recently received a sample of their Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in the color Icon. The name fit the bill; Icon was just that, an iconic red color. I was amazed by the pigmentation and the claim of a 14-hour wear, so I decided to splurge on a more (I hoped) every day fall lip color.

The color Empress is a gorgeous, deep berry red color. At $28 USD, Sephora describes Empress as a deep aubergine, which I think, is a perfect explanation. It's a bit too dark for me to wear everyday, but I look forward to this color accompanying me on many nights out this fall.

During the warmer, summer months, I tend to lay off of foundations and stick to tinted moisturizers. As we make our way back into the cooler, winter months, I start to introduce my skin back to foundations. My skin is a very fickle thing, and it hates to be disturbed, if you get what I'm saying! I love foundations, but I am always nervous to try something new. When I stumbled upon MAC's Face and Body foundation, I figured a water based foundation might not disturb my skin too much.

At $27 USD, I love how lightweight and moisturizing this foundation feels. You can layer it for more coverage, but I prefer a light wash just to even out my complexion. (For reference, I am usually an NW20 in MAC foundations and concealers, with MAC Face and Body, I was matched with N1.)

Have you hauled anything lately?

How To Make A Statement

In my previous post I mentioned that I finally discovered how beneficial statement necklaces are. Currently, I have three that I keep in constant rotation. I'll go more in to detail on those in my next posting.

But, first, let's discuss where you can find the perfect statement necklace.

1. Charming Charlie

Charming Charlie is affordable, and totally fashionable. Whenever I wear pieces from Charming Charlie, I am guaranteed to get questions. They are reasonably priced, and always up on the latest trends.

Current Wish List:

2. Target

Yes, that store that sucks you in every time you go, has awesome statement necklaces to pick from. Best part? You can style a whole outfit at Target for a great price. From intimates, to boots, to that great statement necklace, Target is a one stop shop for a go to outfit.

Current Wish List:

3. Nordstrom

I have a sick obsession with Nordstrom. Their beauty department always screams my name. Their shoe department makes me smile. And their jewelry department makes me wish I had a bigger bank account. But the secret to buying statement necklaces from Nordstrom is in their juniors BP department. They have affordable, stylish statement necklaces that do just that - make a statement.

Current Wish List:

Would you believe it if I told you all those necklaces are under thirty dollars?!

Where are some of your favorite places to shop for statement necklaces? Which ones are on your current wish list?

The day I said "life is too short to only wear black."

Don't get me wrong, I will always have a bit of black in my wardrobe (maybe bit is the wrong word…)

I always wear black. Black jeans. Black shirts. Black dresses. Black jackets. I never branch out. I never go to the shops and gravitate towards the colorful section. No, I always find myself in the dark section, and I never, never question if I need another black shirt. Because the answer is always, yes, I do need another one.

I don't have much style in terms of fashion bloggers. My favorite place to shop is Old Navy, and I am totally okay with that (have you checked out their selection lately?!) And I have just discovered the importance of statement necklaces, but have yet to understand hats.

My favorite season is fall - fall fashion is my weakness. I have, shamelessly, about twenty scarves. You see, that's where I get my color. A pop of teal, or pink, or white around the neck to complete my favorite, black, fall outfit. And don't even get me started on boots.

I have a closet full of black clothing that just makes me sad. I am twenty something years old, and my wardrobe makes me sad.

I had an epiphany the other day - where I realized that I am indeed twenty something and I've spent the better half of my life wearing black clothing when there is a world full of other options. All of a sudden, my eyes started to gravitate towards that beautiful red blouse, or patterned shirt and I realized, I can wear that and I don't care what anyone has to say about it.

So if you wish, come follow me along my journey into color. But don't be too surprised if something black makes a reoccurring appearance!
